Description: This social justice advocacy and ethics course equips social workers and advocates with knowledge and skills to identify and address social injustices from a social work and ethics perspective. The course explores the intersection of ethics, social justice advocacy, and traditional social work fields, and includes an identification and examination of some practical strategies social workers can apply to social justice advocacy work across various settings. Participants will also learn about social justice history and contemporary issues, develop advocacy-related next steps, and explore their role in promoting social change.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:
Examine a brief history of Social Justice Advocacy to cultivate a working knowledge of major theories of social justice advocacy.
Identify frameworks for incorporating advocacy across the social work field and the ethical considerations in advocacy work for social change.
Create practical strategies to promote social equity and justice in their social justice advocacy work considering NASW’s Code of Ethics.
Engage in an open and structured dialogue on the ethics of their work as they prepare to implement their next steps.

What board approved this course as continuing education?
Social Workers for Social Change: How social workers can play a role in social justice advocacy and the ethical considerations in social change [Course # 6355] is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Diasporic Healing LLC as an individual course. Individual courses, not providers, are approved at the course level. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: [06/04/2025 - 06/04/2027]. Social workers completing this course receive 3 ethics continuing education credits.
What is considered satisfactory completion of the course? How and when will I receive my certificate?
A participant’s satisfactory completion of the training includes having: paid the tuition fee, logged in and out of the training, attended the entire workshop, completed the post-test, if applicable (with a passing score of 80% or more within three attempts of taking the post-test), and completed the post-training evaluation.
Having met these requirements, the certificate will be sent to you in 2-3 business days via email to the email address you used at the time of registration.
Diasporic Healing LLC utilizes an attendance tracker for our virtual training sessions. Failure to log in and/or out will result in forfeiting the credit for the entire course. Partial credit is not available.

Thank you for joining us for our course! Diasporic Healing LLC offers ample time throughout and at the end of our training sessions for questions and answers. In the event that you would like to communicate with the instructor after the scheduled training time regarding subject matter guidance, correction, grading, comments, or problem solution, you can reach out to Diasporic Healing LLC at learn@diasporichealing.com to express your questions and interests. Participants have up to 5 days from the date of the training to submit these requests. Diasporic Healing LLC endeavors to respond to communication within 3 business days. In the event that clarification beyond electronic communication is needed, Diasporic Healing LLC will make reasonable efforts to schedule a brief phone call with the participant.
How do I submit a request for accommodations?
Diasporic Healing LLC will make all reasonable efforts to provide accessible conditions for our training spaces. We cannot ensure accommodations without adequate prior notification. If you require ADA accommodations, please contact our office at least 30 days in advance by emailing us at learn@diasporichealing.com.
Are there any particular system requirements to participate in this course?
Currently, we use Zoom as our virtual platform to host our trainings. Zoom requires: an internet connection (broadband wired or wireless), speakers and a microphone (built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth), and a webcam (built-in, USB plug-in). You can learn more here.
I registered but I have to cancel. What's your cancellation policy? What's your refund policy?
Diasporic Healing LLC asks that the registrant informs us of their need to cancel their participation in the live seminar or workshop at least 48 hours in advance.
Registrants who are unable to attend a Diasporic Healing LLC live seminar or workshop and inform us at least 48 hours in advance may ask for, and will receive, a credit or refund (your choice). Refund requests will be processed within 5 business days. When an attendee is aware in advance that they are unable to attend, we ask that they inform Diasporic Healing LLC by emailing learn@diasporichealing.com; informing us with advanced notice allows us the opportunity to invite another registrant to attend when the training is at or near capacity.
If the registrant does not inform Diasporic Healing LLC of their inability to attend with at least 24 hours notice, the registrant will not receive a refund and be offered the opportunity to participate in the next scheduled training.
In the event that Diasporic Healing LLC has to cancel the training due to emergent and/or unanticipated circumstances, including registration of less than 3 people for the training, Diasporic Healing LLC will send out electronic communication of the cancellation to the email provided to us at the time of the registration. Registrants may ask for, and will receive a credit or refund (your choice). Refund requests will be processed within 5 business days.

Diasporic Healing LLC is fully committed to performing and engaging in activities in alignment with the NASW (National Association of Social Work) Code of Ethics; this includes the creation and delivery of program content and engaging with training participants. While we work diligently to assure this alignment, to ensure fair and ethical treatment of all who participate in our training spaces, and make efforts to anticipate concerns or problems, we have created this policy to address concerns that may arise and require intervention.
