With the historical and continuous experiences of oppression and marginalization imposed upon us as Black, Brown, and Indigenous peoples in the United States and globally, healing is vital in our now and in our way forward.
Healing occurs through many different paths, that therapy is one of many avenues to engage in personal and collective healing, and that we can honor the healing qualities of differing modalities and practitioners.
People have multiple moving parts of themselves and their identities, all of which must be respected, uplifted, and accounted for. In this space, all parts of yourself are welcome, and we make room to process the stigmas and marginalization experienced because of race, skin tone, sexuality, gender identity and expression, culture, religion, disability, body size, and other factors.
Healing is indeed possible! With a holistic, strengths-based, and collaborative approach, we are here as guides and facilitators in that healing journey, creating an environment that allows for you to be your full and true self, inviting you to find your footing in your lived experience, and giving yourself permission to say Yes to you.
Accepting new clients?
Yes. New client appointments will be avialable on July 1, 2026.
Hi there! My name is Gabrielle and I am a licensed clinical social worker and therapist in the Washington DC metropolitan area. I am also the founder of this practice, Diasporic Healing LLC.
I founded this practice in hopes of offering the gifts granted to me to support the healing of the diasporic family. Learning about, practicing, and centering your healing is hard - and is our commitment and priority. The truth is, our healing is political, and it is imperative that we hold true that walking the path to healing impacts us on the individual and collective levels for generations to come.
The career stuff:
I'm a graduate of the Howard University School of Social Work where I received my Master of Social Work degree
I am licensed to practice in District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts
I have been in private practice since June 2020
I am passionate about mental health, well-being, and health equity with a particular interest in resource access and development, among folks from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds (because I believe we all have a role in each other's collective well-being)
I have been facilitating workshops and conversations around mental health and wellness for about 20 years and have authored two mental health resources.
The Me stuff:
I am known lovingly as the person who writes things down and connects the invisible dots.
Some of my own self-care practices include: reading for pleasure (especially middle-grade books that tells stories of adventure, mythology, and culture), singing calypso, song, and 90's and 00's R&B at the top my lungs any time, anywhere, meditative practices, and connecting with culture and ancestors through Carnival.
